Duke Health is seeking an Advanced Respiratory Therapist to provide diagnostic and therapeutic care for patients across all age groups.

Job Summary

The Advanced Respiratory Therapist will evaluate medical orders, operate mechanical ventilators, and perform life-saving interventions such as intubation and tracheotomy tube changes. This role involves collaboration with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient care and participation in clinical education.

About the Job

This Advanced Respiratory Therapist position requires a completion of a 2-year AMA approved respiratory care program requirements (Associates Degree or the equivalent). The ideal candidate must maintain annual skill maintenance requirements, North Carolina annual license requirements for CEUs, and certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation (NRPS).

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate appropriateness of medical orders.
  • Proficient in the application of mechanical ventilator modalities.
  • Perform endotracheal intubation under the observation of a Supervisor or Advanced Practitioner.
  • Administer medical gases.
  • Insert nasogastric and orogastric tubes.
  • Perform tracheotomy tube changes.
Work Environment

The work involves contact with patients of all ages, family members, physicians, nursing, and all other members of the health care team. Work may require lifting or pushing in excess of 30 pounds and walking, climbing, and bending.

Salary and Benefits

We offer a salary of $120,000 per year, along with up to $8,000 relocation assistance eligible if qualified.
