Job Opportunity

We are seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in African American Literature and expressive cultures of the 20th and 21st centuries. The successful candidate will contribute to our innovative English department, as well as to our vibrant departments in African American Studies and American Studies.

The English Department at Colby College is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic community. We welcome applicants who can support the English major concentration in Literature and the Environment and/or candidates who adopt comparative approaches, such as those focusing on Indigenous Studies, the Black Diaspora, and the Black Atlantic.

The successful candidate will teach first-year writing and departmental core courses, including Foundations of Literary Study, and will have the opportunity to develop and teach upper-level courses in their field of specialization. A PhD in hand by August 2025 is required.
