Job Summary

Rumberger Kirk & Caldwell Pa is seeking a highly skilled Paralegal to join our team in a Civil Defense Litigation role. As a key member of our litigation team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional support to our attorneys in the preparation and presentation of cases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Document Management: Obtain, organize, review, and summarize documents in cases, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Document Production: Assist in the organization, review, and indexing of records, as well as drafting requests to obtain medical, employment, and other pertinent records.
  • Medical Record Review: Organize and prepare outlines and narrative summaries for medical records for internal use and for presentation, including the preparation of medical chronologies.
  • Case Preparation: Set-up and maintain Summation databases as needed on a case-by-case basis, ensuring efficient and effective case management.
  • Discovery Investigation: Prepare indexes to depositions and deposition exhibits, draft discovery and pleadings, including interrogatories, requests for admissions, requests for production, and notices of taking depositions.
  • Travel and Investigation: Travel to accident scenes and impound yards to photograph evidence as directed by attorney, as well as meet with and interview witnesses as directed by partner.
  • Communication and Organization: Check attorneys' calendars for upcoming depositions, conferences, mediations, etc., communicate with attorneys regarding materials needed, and periodically review correspondence files for updates on case status.
  • Time Management and Record-Keeping: Prepare accurate time sheets in accordance with client guidelines and firm procedure, as well as prepare demonstrative aids for mediations and trials.
  • Team Collaboration: Coordinate and supervise trial teams, attend mediations with attorney, and prepare witness and exhibit disclosures and attend exhibit reviews with attorney.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification: A.S. degree in paralegal studies and a paralegal certificate or a B.A. in paralegal studies or other field.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to produce accurate work product in a timely manner, team player, creative problem-solving, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Experience: 5+ years of law firm experience.
Physical and Mental Demands
  • Physical Abilities: Sitting most of the time.
  • Mental Abilities: Reasoning ability, common sense to solve problems and follow verbal and written instructions accurately, and ability to handle stress.
