Job Description and Requirements

The Department of Psychology at Penn State University invites applicants for an Assistant Clinical Professor position at the Penn State Psychological Clinic. This is a non-tenure-line, term position with an excellent possibility of renewal. The anticipated start date is as soon as possible.

About the Role

This clinical faculty appointment entails direct clinical care, including individual and group psychotherapy, assessment, consultation, and teaching responsibilities within the Department of Psychology. Candidates must have a doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or a related field and be license eligible within 90 days of their start date.

Responsibilities and Qualifications
  • Provide direct clinical care services to patients at the Penn State Psychological Clinic, including individual and group psychotherapy, assessment, and consultation.
  • Teach undergraduate courses within the Department of Psychology.
  • Contribute to administrative responsibilities, such as program development and research initiatives.
  • Meet the requirements for licensure as a psychologist in Pennsylvania within 90 days of starting the position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA regulations and mental health law.
  • An exceptional interest in integrating science and practice in clinical settings.
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in clinical practice, teaching, and supervision.
Clearances and Background Checks

Candidates will be required to undergo background checks, including PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

Penn State University offers competitive benefits to full-time employees, including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans, as well as tuition discounts for employees and their families. The estimated salary for this position is $75,000 - $95,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
