Job Title: Resident Field Service Technician

At Road Machinery & Supplies Co., we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Resident Field Service Technician to join our team. As a key member of our service team, you will be responsible for providing top-notch service and support to our customers in the Upper Midwest.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain effective communication with customers and internal departments to ensure seamless service delivery and growth of service labor sales.
  • Utilize various computer programs, OEM software, and RMS resources to complete jobs efficiently, adhering to operator manuals, technical drawings, and electrical/hydraulic schematics.
  • Perform thorough troubleshooting and diagnostics to identify repair needs, communicate effectively, and make necessary repairs.
  • Test equipment after repair and assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance.
  • Maintain company service vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment, adhering to DOT and MSHA compliance.
  • Stay up-to-date with knowledge of RMS and competitor products through vendor, internal, and online training.

Requirements:

  • Five (5) years of experience as a Field Service Technician for an OEM Heavy Equipment Distributor.
  • Exceptional skills in hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting and repair of heavy construction equipment.
  • Ability to identify complex problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Skilled in operating vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes.
  • Possess a current valid CDL driver's license with a clean record and ability to pass drug and fitness for duty tests.
  • Able to complete required documentation, reports, and repairs in a timely manner, utilizing general computer applications.
  • Demonstrates a strong attention to detail and accuracy, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures and technology.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule as needed, with some overnight travel.
  • Able to work responsibly, safely, and intelligently, with a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.

Physical Requirements:

  • Push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Lift/carry up to 60 lbs.
  • Lift bulky objects.
  • Standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing, neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, ladder climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, supine overhead reaching, crawling, high steps, fingering/grasping.
  • Working conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor, with potential for loud noise levels.
