Position Overview
As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Healthcare Support Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations within the center. This position involves a variety of responsibilities that may include administrative support, patient care assistance, and laboratory tasks. The specialist actively contributes to a collaborative care model in a Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) environment and engages in initiatives aimed at enhancing quality of care.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Medical Assisting program with a focus on clinical procedures is preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, NCMA, or CCMA) is required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare setting, ideally in a clinical office.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving work environments and schedules.

Key Responsibilities

The Healthcare Support Specialist will:

  • Answer phone calls in a timely manner, managing inquiries and scheduling patient appointments with professionalism.
  • Welcome patients and assist in scheduling follow-up visits.
  • Verify insurance details, assess financial eligibility, and update patient records accordingly.
  • Input data into the system following established billing protocols and guidelines.
  • Prepare documentation for new patients and coordinate with the Medical Records Department to ensure accurate information retrieval.
  • Assist in preparing patients for examinations by collecting vital signs and understanding the purpose of their visit.
  • Support the physician during patient examinations as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the examination areas, ensuring all supplies and equipment are properly stocked.
  • Document and maintain precise clinical information and perform follow-up tasks as assigned.
  • Sort and manage incoming clinic correspondence and deliveries.
  • Conduct phlebotomy procedures as required and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
