Position Overview:

We are looking for a motivated and skilled part-time Financial Specialist to become a vital part of our team in the healthcare sector. This position is ideal for students pursuing degrees in accounting, finance, or business.

The Financial Specialist will oversee a variety of accounting and financial responsibilities, emphasizing accuracy, compliance, and the financial health of the organization.

This role demands a combination of accounting expertise, financial insight, and strategic problem-solving skills.

Initially, this position may require up to 25 hours per week, with the potential for increased hours and responsibilities as skills develop.

We offer flexibility in scheduling for the right candidate, with a typical workday consisting of four hours in the office.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive General Ledger (GL) and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, pinpointing discrepancies and areas for improvement.
  • Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations, ensuring accurate recording of all financial dealings.
  • Assist in developing and managing the annual budget, collaborating with department heads to meet financial objectives.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of all financial entries.
  • Provide specialized accounting services tailored to the healthcare sector, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Oversee grant management, ensuring all financial aspects are handled efficiently.
  • Lead the year-end closing process, ensuring completeness and accuracy of financial records.
  • Conduct regular reviews of balance sheets, identifying potential issues and implementing necessary solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree or currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in non-profit accounting is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting practices.
  • Knowledge and experience with GL, General Ledger Reconciliation, financial statements, intercompany transactions, budget preparation, healthcare accounting, grants, year-end closing, and balance sheets.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic planning abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with all organizational levels.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Ability to work independently, manage complex projects, and meet deadlines.
  • High integrity and dependability with a strong focus on results.
