Wastewater Treatment Operations Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wastewater Treatment Operations Specialist to join our Public Works Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of our wastewater treatment plants, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of operators and maintain a safe and healthy work environment
- Collect and analyze samples, perform mathematical computations, and diagnose equipment malfunctions
- Maintain accurate operational records and data, and provide technical support to other departments
- Work independently and as part of a team, including weekends, holidays, and varying shifts
- Mentor and train less experienced personnel, and contribute to the development of new procedures and policies
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, and current Oregon Class C Drivers License
- Grade III or IV Oregon Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification (out-of-state licenses accepted with ability to obtain Oregon certification within six months)
- Minimum two years of experience in wastewater treatment plant operations, and experience in team leadership and Distributed Control System (DCS) / Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems
- Ability to work night, day, swing, and weekend shifts, and temporarily cover staffing shortfalls as needed
Compensation and Benefits
- $37.80 - $46.36 hourly salary, competitive pay and employer-paid PERS contribution of 6%
