The Medical Support Professional assists in patient care throughout nursing areas, responsible for safe transport via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services, and documentation of services. Provides observer services for patients requiring constant observation to maximize safety. Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.

Responsibilities
  • Direct Patient Care
    • Demonstrates skills and judgment necessary to provide direct care under licensed personnel's supervision, according to their standards of practice.
  • Policies and Procedures
    • Adheres to The Westerly Hospital policies and procedures.
  • Staff Development
    • Aacts as a resource and role model.
    • Participates in training and educational activities for other staff members.
  • Customer Service
    • Demonstrates respect, dignity, compassion, and professionalism for all customers by utilizing the four tenets of Patient Family and Centered Partnership.
  • Employee Collaboration and Teamwork
    • Recognizes and values fellow employees' contributions, displays cooperation, and teamwork.
  • Resource Utilization
    • Reports to work on time, prepared to work, and follows hospital policies for notice of lateness/absenteeism and time off requests.
Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Education
    • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience
    • Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred.
    • Previous behavioral health experience preferred.
  • Licenses and Certifications
    • Current RI Nursing Assistant License.
    • Basic Life Support.
    • CPI training within 1 year of employment.
  • Skills
    • Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately.
    • Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
    • Knowledge of basic medical terminology a plus.
    • Basic computer knowledge is a plus.
    • Ability to move or lift patients and equipment.

$45,000 - $60,000 per annum, depending on experience.
