POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the guidance of the Executive Director, the Technology Support Specialist is tasked with a variety of responsibilities aimed at delivering continuous technological assistance to residents.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Effectively communicating technology concepts in a clear and accessible manner during individual sessions, small groups, and larger gatherings.
  • Providing support to residents with a wide array of personal technology devices, including computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, printers, smart speakers, and smart home systems.
  • Assisting and/or instructing residents in the use of various technology applications and software.
  • Collaborating with the Resident Technology Committee as required, including involvement in innovation initiatives and organizing or delivering educational technology programs for residents.
  • Aiding residents with televisions, remote controls, cable systems, and streaming platforms.
  • Offering support and training for residents and staff on audio systems, microphones, DVD players, and related equipment.
  • Educating residents on cybersecurity measures and how to protect themselves from scams.
  • Making suggestions to the Executive Director regarding necessary updates or enhancements to improve resident satisfaction.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:


This role does not involve assisting residents with password management, banking transactions, or accessing personal information, including health or financial data.

This position focuses on basic setup and troubleshooting of personal technology for residents. Any significant repairs or updates will be referred to external service providers.
This role is dedicated to supporting personal technology and does not extend to business-related technology.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • An associate degree or certification from an accredited vocational or technical program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in and knowledge of: Windows, Apple OS, Apple iOS, and Android systems.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to current and emerging hardware/software utilized by residents.
  • A collaborative team player who works well with others.
  • Exceptional communication and customer service abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Capability to read and interpret documents such as safety guidelines, operating instructions, and procedural manuals; ability to compose routine reports and correspondence, and effectively present information to groups of residents, customers, or employees.
  • Proficiency in basic arithmetic operations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
