Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nutrition Specialist to join our team at Mt. Hood Community College. The successful candidate will support and facilitate the delivery of quality nutrition services for Head Start and Early Head Start programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance and training to parents and children on nutrition issues.
  • Oversee policies, procedures, and tracking of nutrition services to ensure compliance with regulations and performance standards.
  • Work collaboratively with the Food Service Department and other service areas to support the college's vision, mission, and goals.
  • Develop and maintain adequate record-keeping systems for tracking data and ensuring nutrition information is accurate.
  • Ensure completion of referrals made by staff and parents, and provide support and guidance as needed.
  • Stay current on best practices and trends in early childhood nutrition.
  • Partner with the contracted nutritionist to support menu development, referral completion, and other related tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with USDA regulations and maintain CACFP information in the state's database.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition or a related field.
  • Two years of progressive experience working in child and family nutrition.
  • Experience working with diverse backgrounds and demonstrated commitment to promoting access and diversity.
  • Current driver's license, insurance, and access to a reliable automobile for transportation to off-campus sites.
  • Ability to frequently lift 50 pounds.
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish, Russian, or another language that meets the community's needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in Head Start or Early Head Start.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work assigned schedules, exhibit regular and predictable attendance, and be willing to work outside of typical hours as needed. Travel to off-campus locations and in-state travel may be required.
