Position: Fitness Class Leader

Role Summary
The Fitness Class Leader is responsible for guiding participants through a structured exercise routine aimed at improving overall health, strength, and stamina, while prioritizing the safety of all members. This role also involves educating participants on various fitness topics.

Pre-Class Duties:
Arrive at the designated area 10 to 15 minutes before the class starts to engage with members, address inquiries, track their fitness journeys, and welcome new attendees. It is essential for Fitness Class Leaders to familiarize themselves with participants individually and understand their fitness levels.
Appropriate fitness attire is required, ensuring visibility of proper form and movement without being overly revealing. Whenever possible, instructors should wear branded clothing. Proper footwear is mandatory.

In-Class Responsibilities:
Introduce yourself and explain the class format.
Check for first-time participants and assess their fitness levels discreetly.
Ensure all verbal cues are clear, and the music volume and class atmosphere are conducive to learning and enjoyment.
Continuously monitor participants to ensure correct form is maintained, offering modifications to suit various fitness levels.
Foster a motivating and enjoyable environment for all attendees.

Post-Class Duties:
Pack away all music equipment and return the microphone to its designated spot.
Ensure the area is tidy for the next session.
Address any questions or concerns from participants.
Gather feedback from attendees regarding the class.

Additional Responsibilities:
Avoid using music with inappropriate language. Prepare suitable music for the class. Confirm that all equipment is in working order and that microphones are ready for use.

Key Responsibilities:
Ensure classes start and end on time. Adjust the class flow as necessary to maintain the schedule.
If unable to conduct a scheduled class, it is the instructor's duty to find a qualified substitute and inform the management if challenges arise.
Consistency and reliability in class schedules are crucial; instructors should strive to minimize cancellations or the need for substitutes.
Attend all required staff meetings.
Follow proper timekeeping procedures diligently.
Prepare incident reports as needed in case of accidents.
Maintain a positive and professional demeanor towards responsibilities, colleagues, and members.
Promote the brand and its offerings effectively.
Minimum of six months experience in group exercise instruction.
Understanding of safe exercise practices and group dynamics.
Knowledge of basic physiology and body mechanics.
Ability to perform a variety of exercise routines.
Strong interpersonal communication skills.
Capability to operate and troubleshoot audio equipment.
Instructors with specialized skills such as Yoga, Pilates, or similar must provide proof of relevant qualifications.

Physical requirements include the ability to lift light weights, bend, squat, jump, run, reach, walk, hop, spin, and kick.

Certification in group fitness from recognized organizations such as ACE, AFAA, or ACSM, or specialized certifications in formats like Zumba, Strong, Les Mills, or Silver Sneakers is required.
