Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Principal Engineer to join our team at Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. (SIA). As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for leading structural design and analysis projects with a focus on practical design, earthquake engineering, and structural dynamics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and lead mid-size to major projects, overseeing project technical execution and ensuring compliance with structural theory and code requirements.
  • Develop project-specific criteria, technical approaches, and best practices to deliver projects effectively.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to develop design concepts, create design/analysis briefs, and verify analysis and design results.
  • Mentor and train junior staff to ensure knowledge transfer and growth within the team.
  • Author technical reports and present at in-house or external client/peer review meetings.
Requirements
  • M.S. in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer licensure, CA preferred.
  • 15+ years of industry experience.
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong structural and seismic design/analysis technical skills for a wide range of structure types.
  • Extensive knowledge of transportation and building codes.
  • Proficiency in advanced structural analysis software (e.g. ADINA, CSiBridge, MIDAS, LS-DYNA, and similar).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Senior or Principal level experience and design/analysis expertise in a wide range of multi-disciplinary structure types, including new or retrofit bridges, buildings, tunnels, tanks, and underground structures.
  • Extensive experience using state-of-practice techniques and advanced linear and non-linear finite element analysis.
  • Well-versed in transportation criteria and building codes including AASHTO LRFD, Caltrans Seismic Design Criteria, as well as High Speed Rail Criteria, the California Building Code, ASCE7, ACI318, and/or AISC360/341.
  • Strong planning/organizational skills.
  • Highly motivated and welcome to new challenges.
