Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Telemetry Technician to join our team at University Hospital in Newark, NJ. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the performance of clinical and technical procedures that contribute to the care of monitored telemetry patients in the Intensive Care Nursery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist medical and nursing staff with continuous monitoring of patient ECG, oxygen saturation, and other rhythms.
  • Maintain and monitor rate limits, recognizing irregularities due to changes in patient rhythm or machine malfunction.
  • Initiate tracing if a change occurs in patient rhythm and immediately alert nursing personnel.
  • Perform clerical and receptionist duties for assigned Patient Care Services unit, including operating an online computer terminal to enter/retrieve/correct patient information.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three to six months of healthcare experience with electrocardiograph or completion of a training program in the use of electrocardiograph equipment.
  • Prior experience in reading EKG strips preferred.
  • BLS Certification required.
