Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Monitor Technician to join our Telemetry Services team at RWJBarnabas Health. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing continuous monitoring of adult and pediatric cardiac rhythms of patients with telemetry orders.
Responsibilities:
- Admitting and Discharging patients: Attends the central monitoring station on a constant basis, attaches lead and activates telemetry transmitter, and enters patient's information in the central monitoring station and activates alarms.
- Attaching and removing telemetry transmitter from patients: Responsible for attaching and removing telemetry transmitter from patient, obtains patient's name from secretary, and introduces self to patient and family.
- Daily job responsibilities: Interprets and initials each patient's cardiac rhythm sample with PR, QRS, and QT intervals, records interpretation on the telemetry record, and reviews alarm histories three times per shift.
- Communication: Maintains communication with the RN of assigned unit and remote nursing units, notes any changes in patient rhythms, and reports them immediately to the primary nurse and records these changes for the nurse and physician to review.
Requirements:
- American Heart Association CPR required
- Certification following satisfactory passing grade in the RWJUH Monitor Technician and EKG course
- Previous telemetry experience preferred
- Acute patient care experience preferred
