About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil Engineer to join our team at WSP. As a key member of our Civil Engineering group, you will be responsible for leading technical design programs, facilitating client engagement sessions, and reinforcing internal design standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead technical design programs for flagship infrastructure projects across the transportation, transit, site, and environmental sectors.
  • Facilitate client engagement sessions to ensure effective communication and project delivery.
  • Reinforce internal design standards and best practices to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Identify future contract opportunities and develop strategies to pursue them.
  • Partner with senior team members to grow technical expertise across the region.
  • Provide subject matter technical support and leadership for multi-site/phased heavy civil programs.
  • Develop construction plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare construction safety and phasing plans, and update infrastructure layout plans.
  • Support/lead large-scale heavy civil engineering projects, ensuring collaborators are aligned on roles and responsibilities.
  • Assist with engineering review of permit applications, engineering design plans, and specifications.
  • Ensure technical reports and presentations explain research, findings, and recommendations effectively.
  • Collect, compile, and analyze data from physical work sites, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, and other matrices.
  • Apply high-level civil engineering techniques and processes to identify improvements for various infrastructure project phases.
  • Perform professional civil engineering work, conducting complex investigations and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of advanced technologies, monitoring devices, and building materials.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • 7-10 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering and civil design.
  • Proficient with civil engineering principles, practices, and design/build processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of infrastructure design and planning.
  • Highly proficient with technical writing, office automation, and discipline-specific design software.
  • Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
  • Well-defined specific knowledge of relevant civil construction laws, codes, regulations, and compliance practices.
  • Ability to plan and conduct inspections and investigations on various aspects of construction and design.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated high-level self-leadership, attention to detail, and prioritization of responsibilities.
  • Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adhering to WSP's health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer license (PE).
  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • Enhancing credentials and certifications.
