Certification Project Engineer, International Position

Joby Aviation is seeking a highly skilled Certification Project Engineer, International to support the validation and certification of our electric air transportation system with international Civil Aviation Authorities. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in Type Certification or Validation projects, particularly with Part 23 or 27 experience. They will be responsible for driving project execution, coordinating with the Airworthiness Engineering Team, and representing Joby in meetings with international authorities.
Responsibilities:
Drive the planning and execution of international certification or validation projects
Serve as a key stakeholder for technical aspects of international certification and validation projects
Represent Joby and coordinate with international Civil Aviation Authorities
Work closely with DERs and engineering leads to develop applicant positions and compliance strategies
Author or review key certification documents to ensure Joby positions and plans are harmonized and risk balanced
Provide input to strategic planning and execution for other teams, such as engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations
Requirements:
Previous Type Certification or Validation project experience, Part 23 or 27 experience preferred
Direct experience working with Civil Aviation Authorities
Ability to think creatively towards meeting certification requirements and corporate objectives
7+ years of experience in the civil aviation industry
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical discipline; Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering preferred
Desired:
Experience with multiple international Civil Aviation Authorities
Strong knowledge of Part 23 Amendment 64 intent and the corollary role of industry consensus standards
Strong knowledge of 14 CFR Parts 23, 25, 27, and 29 regulations, policy, and guidance material
Experience with Continued Operational Safety
Strong knowledge of ICAO, EASA, or other international regulatory standards
