About the Role

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Finance Manager to join the AWS Database services team. This position is responsible for driving thoughtful planning, pricing analysis, and decision support for future investment. The individual will work closely with the executive team, product management, and engineering to drive analysis and controllership in the Database businesses.

The successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively, manage multiple and time-sensitive deliverables across the organization, and manage risks and opportunities. The individual will also possess strong business partnership skills and collaborate effectively with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build out and enhance P&L models for new and existing services, develop business insights, and key metric dashboards.
  • Create, maintain, and improve profitability and management reporting.
  • Drive the financial planning and budgeting process.
  • Analyze new business ideas, make analytical judgments, and provide data-intensive analyses to drive meaningful change.
  • Drive pricing decisions and strategic decision supports.
  • Identify and influence cost-saving opportunities and drive execution with the business team.
  • Compile and review financial results and operational plans and communicate results to company leaders.
  • Lead key analytical projects that assist and influence the business.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of tax, finance, or a related analytical field experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause, and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience.
  • 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience.
  • MBA or CPA.
  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards).
  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results.
  • Knowledge of SQL/ETL.
  • 5+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience.
  • 5+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
