About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Exercise Physiologist to join our Cardiac Rehabilitation team at Rush. As an Exercise Physiologist, you will play a critical role in helping patients recover from heart conditions and improve their overall health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform cardiac diagnostic stress testing, including treadmill, pharmacological, and nuclear stress tests, as well as resting ECGs.
  • Assess patient care levels and contraindications to performing diagnostic stress tests.
  • Correctly perform resting and stress 12-lead ECGs according to departmental policy and procedures.
  • Accurately interpret rest and stress 12-lead ECGs and document any abnormalities.
  • Report critical findings promptly to cardiologists and convey relevant information to physicians and other healthcare providers.
  • Produce safe, accurate, and complete exams within the scope of practice.
  • Follow infection control and patient safety guidelines.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with HIPAA, Joint Commission hospital, and department standards and policies.
  • Use proper hand hygiene, two patient identifiers, and time out.
  • Report any concerns to proper personnel.
  • Proficiently use the EPIC system and MERGE system for stress reports.
  • Proficiently use cardiac rehabilitation telemetry monitoring, Scottcare system.
  • Obtain accurate patient history and ensure patient confidentiality and safety are maintained.
  • Complete all work in a timely manner.
  • Operate, care for, and maintain equipment, and ensure procedure room readiness following infection control standards.
  • Act as a team player and work cooperatively with other staff members throughout the organization.
  • Be proactive in suggesting department and hospital improvements.
  • Participate in quality improvement/quality assurance.
  • Provide training and performance feedback to coworkers.
  • Understand the value of teamwork and team building and apply these principles.
  • Willingly accept additional responsibility and/or other duties assigned.
  • Work in partnership with patients, families, coworkers, and physicians to enhance the customer experience in delivery of exceptional care.
Requirements
  • Exercise Physiology or related field with experience in all aspects of exercise and pharmacological stress testing and cardiac rehab programs.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • ACLS certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Work requires a minimum of 1 year on-the-job experience in diagnostic stress testing.
  • Good interpersonal skills for proper communication.
  • Self-directed and independent.
  • Computer skills.
Physical Demands
  • Work requires the ability to stand and walk throughout most of the designated shift.
  • Work requires the following physical activity:
