At United Cerebral Palsy of Georgia, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Direct Support Professional will provide support and assistance to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their daily lives. This includes helping with personal care, meal preparation, transportation, and social activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage residents in activities that promote their goals and independence.
  • Provide transportation and supervision as needed.
  • Record daily activities, problems, and needs of residents in a log.
  • Ensure residents' personal hygiene and grooming needs are met.
  • Use proper body mechanics to lift, move, and position residents, and provide prescribed exercises and physical care.
  • Inspect homes for safety and cleanliness, and report any deficiencies to the supervisor.
  • Conduct evacuation drills and follow emergency procedures.
  • Clean and sanitize appliances, utensils, and work surfaces.
  • Cook and prepare meals.
  • Report any equipment problems to the supervisor.
  • Clean and sanitize bathrooms, kitchen, and telephones daily.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Protect the confidentiality and rights of clients and families.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

Required Certifications and Licenses: Valid driver's license, CPR/FA, CPI. Education and Experience: 1-2 years' experience working with individuals with disabilities or a related field preferred.
