Job Summary

The Leidos National Security Sector is seeking a skilled Communications Specialist – Tech Writer to support an Intelligence Community (IC) program in McLean, VA.

This role requires a strong background in technical editing, writing, and communication, with the ability to develop, prepare, and produce a range of products, including finished intelligence products, strategy and planning documents, talking points, and speeches.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Editing: Lead communication support, including the development, preparation, production, coordination, and editing of various products.
  • Assignment Preparation: Prepare assignments based on input from subject matter experts.
  • Mentorship and Training: Mentor and train junior staff.
  • Content Creation: Utilize tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud suite to create compelling content.
  • Request Management: Utilize request management tools such as NarQuest to provide swift, high-quality customer support for communications requests.
  • Product Development: Provide support by researching, proofreading, editing, creating, writing, processing, revising, formatting, and coordinating the composition of products for hardcopy and electronic publication, as well as dissemination on multiple platforms.
  • Documentation and Editing: Ensure documentation and editing support includes checks for accuracy and consistency in organization, style, readability, and accessibility based on the medium.
  • Communication Materials: Draft and edit a variety of communication materials and products, including talking points, speeches, quotes, remarks, leadership communications, marketing copy, newsletter content, website content, and other communications products.
  • Primary Author: Serve as the primary author on fact sheets, pamphlets, website content, articles, email messaging, and other communications products, as needed.
  • Task Execution: Initiate, plan, execute, and report on tasks independently, as identified.
  • Speech Preparation: Prepare and edit speeches or scripts for senior executives for live or recorded delivery, testimony, and statements for Congressional Record.
  • Submission Rewrite: Rewrite submissions as necessary to organize, balance, and apply a consistent sense of style, grammar, and flow to these written materials.
  • Information Conveyance: Convey complex information in a clear and simple manner.
  • Tradecraft and Publication Standards: Ensure all products are consistent with tradecraft and publication standards.
  • Leadership Support: Advise and coach leadership on the presentation and delivery of speeches.
  • Tools and Software: Utilize the MS Office suite, collaboration tools such as MS Teams and Sharepoint, as well as Adobe Creative Suite.
Basic Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree and 4 – 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 – 6 years of prior relevant experience. Years of experience can be substituted for no degree. TS/SCI with Polygraph level clearance is required up front.
