Job SummaryThe Psychiatric Technician will perform technical and manual tasks related to patient care under the direction of the Regional Mental Health Director, Health Services Administrator, or higher licensed medical professional. The job duties include providing direct care, support, and assistance to patients, as well as assisting with therapeutic activities, medication management, and crisis intervention.
Key Responsibilities- Collects basic data and contributes to the evaluation of individualized interventions for mental health patients in accordance with their care or treatment plan.
- Provides direct patient care, including basic nursing services, medication administration, communication skills for patient care and education, and contributing to self-care teaching plans.
- Maintains communication with Psych RN, LCSW/LMFT, MD/psychiatrist, or NP/PA regarding patients' mental health needs while maintaining confidentiality.
- Transcribes doctor's orders, assists with program admission and discharge paperwork, and manages and organizes mental health clinical documentation and records.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A high school diploma and specialized training for licensing/certification(s)
- 1-3 years post-licensure experience required
- Basic knowledge of all psychotropic medications being dispensed
- Correctional mental health experience is preferred
Candidates must hold a current (and must maintain) unrestricted LPT license, certification or registration in state of practice, and lifesaving BLS certification through AHA.
