About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced attorney to join our team as a Repo Sales and Trading Attorney. As a key member of our Legal Department, you will play a critical role in supporting our Global Legal Documentation and Sales & Trading Legal divisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft and negotiate master agreements and ancillary documentation, including MRAs, GMRAs, GMSLAs, and MSFTAs with external clients from various jurisdictions.
  • Advise on regulatory requirements related to SEC-mandated clearing of U.S. Treasuries for cash and repo transactions, including participating in internal project workstreams.
  • Provide repo master agreement legal advisory support to the global legal documentation team.
  • Assist with complex negotiations, escalations, and priority client relationships from the repo business pipelines to ensure timely and effective resolution.
  • Support the internal netting process through contract reviews, opinion reviews, and submission of legal summaries for approval to relevant internal committees.
Requirements
  • Juris Doctor degree.
  • At least moderate U.S. legal experience gained at a law firm or in-house at a bank or with moderate master agreement experience.
  • Member in good standing of a State Bar Association, preferably with the New York State Bar Admission.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience drafting, negotiating, and advising on master agreements, including ISDA, MRAs, GMRA, MSFTAs, GMSLA, and cleared derivatives documentation in private practice or in-house.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an inter-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent legal analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Willingness to be versatile and develop knowledge about different departments within the Bank.
  • Ability to work with a high volume of complex legal documentation under time pressure.
