Job Title: Transportation Technician II - Inspector

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Technician II - Inspector to join our Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) Division in North Carolina. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, making and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Perform daily documentation of contractors' work efforts.
  • Prepare project field books and documentation.
  • Conduct material sampling and testing.
  • Assist with preparation of final estimates packages.
  • Measure distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of construction activity/layout.
  • Verify levels, alignment, and elevation of construction activity/installations.
  • Observe work in progress to ensure procedures followed and materials used conform to specifications.
  • Obtain and prepare material samples for laboratory testing.
  • Examine workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards and accept installation.
  • Record quantities of materials received or used during specified periods.
  • Maintain daily logs of construction and inspection activities.

**Requirements:**

  • High school graduate with four (4) years of experience in construction inspection, one (1) year of which shall have been in roadway or bridge construction inspection.
  • AAS Civil Engineering Technology plus two (2) years of experience; with at least one (1) year of roadway construction inspection experience.
  • Valid driver's license with approved/acceptable driving history required.
  • Complete the Critical Structures Construction Issues, Self-Study Course, and submit the mandatory Certification of Course Completion form (for structures projects).
