LA County Hospital Pharmacist

We are seeking a skilled Inpatient Pharmacist to work in Los Angeles on a long-term contract to hire basis. This is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door with the LA County Health system.
Position Details:- Location: Los Angeles County
- Type: Long-Term Contract (To-Hire)
- Schedule: 8-hour shifts; must be flexible for all shifts (primarily 1st and 2nd shifts, with occasional 3rd shifts as needed)
- Contract-to-Hire: Many of our pharmacists have successfully transitioned into permanent County positions, which include a competitive salary, excellent benefits, union membership, pension plans, and significant opportunities for lateral and upward mobility.
- Medication Management: Accurately dispense medications and provide detailed medication counseling to patients.
- Clinical Support: Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement optimal treatment plans, including dosage adjustments and therapeutic recommendations.
- Medication Order Review: Conduct thorough reviews of inpatient medication orders, ensuring proper dosage, interactions, and adherence to regulatory standards.
- Pharmacokinetic Dosing: Monitor and adjust dosages for critical care patients, ensuring safe and effective therapy.
- Inventory Management: Oversee medication inventories, ensuring availability of critical drugs, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of patient interactions, medication dispensation, and clinical decisions.
- Education and Training: Provide education to nursing and medical staff on proper medication usage, safety protocols, and new pharmaceutical developments.
- PGY1 residency or 2+ years of recent inpatient experience (strong preference for PGY1-trained candidates).
- Ability to commit to long-term contract work with a focus on securing permanent placement.
- Willing to interview onsite at LACDHS.
- Must pass a one-time competency exam before being cleared to proceed.
- LiveScan background check required after passing the competency test.
