Coordinator of Volunteer Engagement

The University of Illinois Foundation serves as the official organization for fundraising and private gift reception for the University of Illinois. It collaborates closely with alumni, faculty, staff, corporations, and foundations to develop fundraising initiatives that support the University.

The Coordinator of Volunteer Engagement will oversee and manage essential donor volunteer programs and engagement strategies. This role is crucial in supporting Foundation and University partners in enhancing donor volunteer structures to increase private contributions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide centralized assistance in donor volunteer management, administration, and programming.

- Foster the development of volunteer management frameworks within the UI development program to offer scalable and effective tools and resources.

- Oversee the UI Foundation Membership program, which focuses on engaging and communicating with dedicated donor prospect volunteers across the organization. Act as the primary liaison for UIF Foundation Members, offering personalized engagement opportunities.

- Collaborate with Board and donor engagement teams on activities such as planning Board meetings, communication strategies, and volunteer management support.

- Stay informed about current trends, services, and best practices in volunteer management from other non-profits and higher education institutions, while also identifying relevant programs from outside the sector.

- Assist the department in executing Board-related and general advancement events, communications, and programs. Some travel may be required.

- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Board and Donor Engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years of professional experience in advancement or volunteer management.

- A demonstrated interest in philanthropy and alignment with the mission of the UI Foundation.

- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with shifting priorities and deadlines.

- Strong communication (both verbal and written), interpersonal, and customer service skills.

- Proficiency in the MS Office suite and a willingness to learn Blackbaud or similar customer relationship management systems.

- Commitment to the values of integrity, empathy, collaboration, innovation, and impact in development programs.
