Service Plumber Job Description

Southern Home Services LLC is a leading provider of residential HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical services. We are seeking a skilled Service Plumber to join our team and become an integral part of our company's success.

About this Role:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Service Plumber to handle a range of residential plumbing tasks. In this role, you will perform service work that includes troubleshooting, installing, and repairing plumbing systems. You will diagnose issues, execute repairs and installations, and ensure that all work meets high-quality standards and local codes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose problems and failures in plumbing systems and equipment
• Determine whether repairs or replacements are needed for customers
• Install and assemble plumbing systems and equipment, including valves, pipe fittings, and pipes
• Perform installation, maintenance, and repairs on water and gas systems, pipes, fittings, and components
• Test for leaks using compressed air and/or water to ensure functionality and safety
• Repair and maintain plumbing systems by replacing washers, mending burst pipes, and clearing clogged drains
• Manage the inventory of plumbing supplies in the vehicle, including checking stock, placing orders, and verifying receipts
• Keep equipment and tools operational by following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures
• Maintain safety equipment

Requirements:

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair of residential and commercial systems
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and job specifications
• Expertise in installing, maintaining, and repairing water, gas, and sewage systems
• Familiarity with local and state plumbing codes and regulations
• Experience with various tools and equipment, such as pipe cutters, threaders, and soldering tools
• Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose complex plumbing issues and recommend effective solutions
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with customers, team members, and supervisors
• Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials, working in confined spaces, and handling tools for extended periods
• Safety-Oriented: In-depth knowledge of safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment
• Customer Service: Proven track record of delivering excellent customer service, with a focus on professionalism and customer satisfaction
• Technology Skills: Basic knowledge of mobile apps and work management software to track tasks and report on job progress
• Leadership & Teamwork: Ability to lead apprentices, work well within a team, and coordinate with other trades on larger projects
• Availability: Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and emergency calls, as needed
• Driver's License: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and 3 years of driving experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Licensing: Active and valid Journeyman Plumbing License. Additional certifications such as backflow prevention, and gas piping are a plus.

Physical Requirements:

The physical requirements of this job include tasks such as lifting weights (e.g., pounds regularly and occasionally), climbing ladders, accessing attics, navigating tight spaces, driving, entering crawlspaces, pushing, carrying, pulling, using hand tools, and performing fine detail work. The role also involves working in various environments, including indoor and outdoor settings, attics, crawlspaces, and exposure to extreme temperatures and adverse weather conditions such as rain or snow.
