Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with senior management to train and develop team members, while effectively scheduling, planning, assigning, and directing tasks.
  • Assists in analyzing historical sales data, promotions, and advertising efforts. Co-manages inventory through established item management processes to maintain optimal stock levels. May assist in reviewing financial metrics such as profit and loss, sales, shrinkage, and labor costs with the department manager.
  • Indirectly responsible for enhancing sales performance, financial outcomes, public relations, product quality, and operational standards.
  • Enforces quality assurance and food safety protocols, ensuring that products are properly stocked and rotated. Evaluates baked goods for quality based on aroma, flavor, texture, and appearance.
  • Involved in all facets of bakery production, including preparation, packaging, labeling, catering, and occasional delivery of baked items.
  • Utilizes creativity to design and decorate baked goods, promote seasonal themes, and create attractive product displays.
  • Conducts inventory checks on delivery trucks, unloads products, and verifies the accuracy of inventory and ordering documentation.
  • Encourages product sales through effective suggestive selling techniques and visually appealing displays.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment by adhering to company safety protocols.
  • Provides a welcoming and customer-focused experience by greeting customers, responding to inquiries, and processing orders both in-person and over the phone.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Intermediate understanding of bakery operations.
  • Familiarity with in-store ordering systems and inventory management.
  • Ability to lead and inspire team members.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with customers and team members.
  • Capability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in reading and operating digital equipment and scales.
  • Competence in safely using bakery tools and equipment.
  • Skill in using both precision and non-precision hand tools.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and processes.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with at least one year of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Minimum age of 18 years required.
  • Food Handler certification is mandatory.
  • Manager Food Safety certification is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Must have the ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively.
  • Frequent use of hands for various tasks.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 40 lbs regularly, and up to 75 lbs occasionally.
  • Attendance at work is essential.

Work Environment

  • Work is primarily conducted in a retail bakery setting.
  • Regular exposure to hot surfaces and extreme temperatures.
  • Occasional exposure to wet or slippery conditions.
  • Noise levels may vary.
