Position Overview:

The MRI Technologist plays a crucial role within Intermountain Health's travel division, undertaking assignments across various facilities. These professionals are expected to adapt to different locations within the region as required.

The MRI Technologist is tasked with conducting medical imaging procedures under a physician's guidance, aiding in the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions. This role demands creativity, initiative, and independent decision-making to deliver exceptional imaging results.

Supervised by the local imaging coordinator or equivalent, with oversight from Imaging Services Management, the MRI Technologist is expected to contribute to system-wide operational initiatives and uphold safety protocols.

Flexibility to travel to multiple Intermountain locations for assignments ranging from 8 to 13 weeks is essential. Comfort in working across various units within the specialty is a must.

  • Competitive pay and living stipends aligned with local and national travel Radiology Tech rates, with evaluations every quarter to adjust based on market trends.
  • For assignments exceeding 50 miles from the employee's residence, housing reimbursement is determined by the site location, with required receipt submissions within 30 days.
  • All mobile team members are expected to travel to all regions and work at all Intermountain sites, with management considering individual preferences and needs for assignments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit advanced clinical skills in a trauma-level hospital environment.
  • Ensure accurate patient identification and order verification while preparing patients for examinations.
  • Conduct MRI examinations in accordance with departmental protocols.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in cross-sectional anatomy and anatomical positioning.
  • Complete imaging studies within acceptable timeframes without compromising patient care or image quality.
  • Collaborate with radiologists to select appropriate scanning techniques and protocols.
  • Administer intravenous contrast material under physician supervision, adhering to protocol.
  • Implement infection control and sterile techniques effectively.
  • Operate MRI equipment and related information systems to produce high-quality images, demonstrating troubleshooting skills when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Current ARRT or ARMRIT registration as a technologist is required.
  • MR registration by ARRT is preferred.
  • Possession of a current MRI license in the state of practice (if applicable).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers is mandatory.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in MRI within a trauma-level hospital setting is required.
  • IV Certification is preferred.
