Job Title: Manager, Risk Management

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Vice President and Director in all phases of Risk Management, including supervision of Risk Associates, litigation and claims evaluation, medical record review, and preparation of summary reports.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis Teams related to actual or potential sentinel events and contribute to Quality Improvement Committees.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, physicians, and other employees, interacting professionally, courteously, and appropriately.
  • Contribute to and participate in Performance Improvement and Quality Improvement activities, including data collection, analysis, implementation of risk management and claims activities, and support of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) teams.
  • Provide written critical analysis of cases and recommend policy or procedural changes as warranted.
  • Follow up on risk reduction strategies and corrective action plans in response to sentinel events or quality of care issues.
  • Interface with other departments to address patient care issues or complaints promptly and effectively.
  • Develop and maintain programs for tracking and trending significant and/or reportable occurrences and professional practice concerns.
Qualifications:
  • Licensure in a healthcare field required, with a Bachelor's Degree in nursing or other healthcare-related field from an accredited college required, and a Master's Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of healthcare experience is required, with 3-5 years of relevant risk or experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience is preferred, with the ability to maintain multiple databases and mastery of quality improvement methods and data analysis required.
  • Excellent written, oral, and communication skills are essential, with the ability to develop and produce regular and ad hoc department reports utilizing various risk, insurance, and regulatory databases.
