UPMC is seeking a skilled Sleep Technologist to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders.
Responsibilities:- Collect and analyze patient information to identify specific needs and develop personalized testing procedures.
- Conduct sleep studies, including in-center and out-of-center testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, and patient education.
- Implement appropriate interventions, including positive airway pressure and oxygen administration, to ensure patient safety and therapeutic outcomes.
- Score sleep/wake stages and clinical events using AASM standards and generate accurate reports.
- Perform routine equipment care, maintenance, and inventory management, and order supplies as needed.
- Comply with safety and infection control regulations, and maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA policies.
- Graduate from an education program in polysomnography accredited by CAAHEP or CoARC.
- Sleep credential from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT), the American Board of Sleep Medicine (RST), or the National Board of Respiratory Care (CRT-SDS or RRT-SDS) within 18 months of employment.
- One year of medical background experience, with training on the job and completion of ASTEP within 1 year of hire and RPSGT within 18 months.
- CPR certification based on AHA standards, and Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Act 34 clearance.
