Job Summary

Jewish Vocational Service (JVS) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Career Navigator to join our team at the MassHire Downtown Boston One-Stop Career Center. As a Career Navigator, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals from diverse backgrounds to achieve their career goals and overcome employment barriers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personalized career coaching to job seekers, helping them develop essential skills and create effective job search strategies.
  • Assist clients in identifying and overcoming barriers to employment, providing guidance on resume creation, interview preparation, and job search techniques.
  • Collaborate with the Career Center team to deliver innovative and customer-focused career services, leveraging technology and community resources to support job seekers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, employers, and community-based organizations, promoting the mission and philosophy of JVS/MassHire.
  • Participate in meetings and planning sessions with JVS MassHire staff to monitor services and implement strategies to improve performance and service delivery.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in a related field, with two years of experience and/or training in career counseling, case management, community-based programming, or counseling.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records in the MOSES database and internal Excel spreadsheets.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills, with the ability to learn and apply knowledge of local and national labor market trends.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations and stakeholders.

Working Conditions
  • Frequent meetings with clients and employers.
  • May be requested to work outside of scheduled hours as defined by the needs of the department.
  • Some travel by public transportation to training provider locations.
  • Will attend occasional off-site meetings with partner organizations in and around the greater Boston area.
