We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transportation Operations Manager to join our team at Commercial Metals Company. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient transportation of our products to customers across the country.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the dispatching of outbound and inbound shipments to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve transportation efficiency and reduce costs
  • Collaborate with driver supervisors and logistics leaders to maintain a culture of safety throughout all aspects of on-road transportation operations
  • Conduct route optimization and determine the most efficient and cost-effective methods of transportation
  • Identify opportunities to solve issues and prevent problems before they occur, and troubleshoot when problems do arise
  • Motivate employees to meet warehouse and transportation standards, goals, accuracies, efficiencies, and customer satisfaction
  • Oversee multiple teams, including logistics, warehouse, transportation, and customer service
  • Develop and maintain the strategic plan for designated logistics operations, including forward-looking strategy for internal CMC fleet and supporting portfolio of owner-operators, dedicated contract haulers, and third-party contract haulers
  • Champion safety and promote safety by example in all aspects of operations

Requirements

  • Ability to prioritize team goals ahead of individual goals
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Exceptional leadership and team building skills
  • Ability to maintain and be familiar with safety and environmental concerns
  • Computer proficiency in dispatch software, such as Microsoft, SAP, TMW, PC Miler, etc.
  • Prior DOT and dispatching experience preferred
  • Two years of experience in transportation preferred (brokerage, dispatching, or management in trucking)
  • Experience with and knowledge of Transportation and Fleet Management
  • Strong understanding of and experience with managing the functional aspects of logistics execution with both in-house fleets and third-party carriers
  • Working knowledge of logistics and supply chain activities
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to work with all levels of the organization

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management preferred
