Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Space Propulsion Test Mechanic to join our team at L3 Harris. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assembling, mounting, and testing development and production space propulsion systems, components, and rigs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble, mount, and test development and production space propulsion systems, components, and rigs under the direction of supervision or higher-grade mechanics.
  • Work from procedures, drawings/prints, work instructions, and specifications while interfacing with engineering to meet balancing, assembling, mounting, and testing requirements on new or development hardware.
  • Assist in the cleaning, assembly, setup, and pressure testing of components, rigs, and facilities.
  • Operate and maintain various support equipment, making simple modifications as required, including maintenance and repair of test facility valves, vacuum pumps, and high-pressure piping systems.
  • Work with methods and operations engineers to devise and develop improved tooling and process changes in both the assembly and test processes.
  • Audit records, analyze, and compute data to ensure compliance to departmental procedures and customer requirements.
  • Comply with Federal and State Environmental and Safety regulations, as well as conform to Company guidelines and procedures for operation of both test facilities and space propulsion systems in assembly areas.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Provide assistance in the handling and distribution of liquids, steam, cryogenics, and high-pressure gases.
  • Perform routine calibrations, maintain facilities, and comply with area Safety and Environmental requirements.
  • Maintain logs and records as required.
  • Occasional travel to off-site customer locations to perform service bulletins.
Requirements:

Requires High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum 0-4 years of experience. Requires Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License or equivalent industrial experience.

The pay range for this position is $47.19 per hour, depending on experience. A 10% shift differential is added to the pay for working 2nd Shift.
