Job Summary:
The Director of Finance will lead all accounting, financial statement preparation, financial compliance reporting, and financial management for two Nashville charter schools. This includes complete general ledger accounting, accounts receivable and payable, monthly financial statement preparation, annual budgeting, multi-year modeling, revenue management, compliance activities, and financial analysis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complete responsibility for the accurate maintenance of each school's general ledger, fixed assets, liabilities, bank reconciliations, payables, receivables, etc.
- Produces timely and accurate monthly financial statements, bank reconciliations, comparisons to budget, supporting analyses, and annual year-end statements.
- Oversees and directs all budgeting, fund management, and activities related to audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, and corporate records.
- Supports the annual audit process and prepares all client-produced schedules to ensure a timely completion of annual audits and tax returns.
- Establishes and directs a strong system of internal control, creates procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records and to ensure adequate accounting controls, purchase approval procedures, contract/bid reviews, effective P Card systems, and safeguarding of all school funds, investments, and assets.
- Oversees all financial compliance reporting activities, communicates with state, federal, and local education authorities, and prepares, analyzes, and disseminates financial reports for both charter schools.
- Collaborates with school staff to manage vendor relationships including major recurring vendors for foodservice, E-Rate (technology), transportation, custodial, substitutes, clinical services, etc.
- Communicates effectively with the leadership of each school and supports their efforts to successfully lead their respective campuses.
- Monitors the agency's financial position, issues periodic financial and operating reports, and directs appropriate activities to ensure fiscal stability.
- Provides leadership and support to Martha O'Bryan School Advisory Committee, committee/Center treasurers and board finance/investments committees, and agency management staff in areas that relate to budgeting, financial and asset management, fiscal policies and procedures.
- Works with each School Director, the VP of Schools and the Martha O'Bryan Center CEO on short and long-term financial and strategic planning.
- Contributes to the team effort by effectively participating in meetings, functions, and special activities of the organization.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree Required and 5 or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference for a degree in accounting or finance, experience in charter schools or other growing organizations. Public accounting or CPA experience is a plus and demonstrated ability in maintaining a complete general ledger and performing financial analysis of financial statements is essential.
