Position Overview:

This position is integral to the Engineering and Environmental Office (EEO) at VW Credit, focusing on Emission Certification, Fleet Compliance Reporting, In-Use Verification, Defect Reporting, OBD, and Regulatory Affairs.

The individual in this role will provide essential technical project assistance across various domains, including Certification, Road Load, OBD PVE, IUVP, IUCP, PEMS, and emission testing. Furthermore, this position will deliver mechanical and logistical support for all EEO-related initiatives. The role also involves undertaking special projects as they arise, while consistently embodying the company's commitment to integrity through a positive and professional demeanor.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Project Assistance - (100%)
  • Assist EEO engineers with all In-Use, Certification, Road Load, OBD, and Special Project activities, including updates for certification vehicles, maintenance and repairs of the vehicle fleet, customer vehicle inspections, and necessary part replacements.
  • Conduct vehicle tests to identify issues and confirm repairs or assess drivability concerns.
  • Effectively communicate diagnostic outcomes and propose solutions to technical challenges, ensuring thorough documentation and reporting of all findings.
  • Manage a dynamic workload efficiently, prioritizing tasks based on project requirements.
  • Support EEO engineers with technical, mechanical, and logistical needs as required.
  • Procure parts as necessary or requested.
  • Maintain technical expertise through ongoing Volkswagen/Audi service or factory training.
  • Ensure the workshop area adheres to corporate appearance and functionality standards.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:

Experience:
  • 7+ years of experience in the automotive field.
Education - Required:

• Degree or certification in Automotive Technology or equivalent experience.

• Volkswagen Audi Technical Training.

• Comprehensive knowledge of Volkswagen and/or Audi products.

• Proficient in using VW/Audi diagnostic tools and equipment.

Education - Desired:
  • ASE Master Certification.
  • Master Technician Certification or equivalent experience.
Skills:
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills, both interpersonal and written.
  • Proficient in computer use and software applications.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrates adaptability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
  • Results-oriented problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent teamwork capabilities.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a proactive approach.
  • Understanding of international collaboration and cultural differences.
Specialized Skills - Required:
  • Experience with BEV, hybrid, diesel, and conventional gasoline emission test vehicles.
  • Familiarity with Volkswagen corporate diagnostics products.
  • Diagnostic experience with Volkswagen and/or Audi vehicles.
  • Knowledge of analysis equipment, specifically Volkswagen diagnostic tools.
  • Highly organized and reliable.
  • Certification for electric vehicle repairs.
Specialized Skills - Desired:
  • Master-level certification in Volkswagen or Audi training.
  • Understanding of emission testing protocols.
  • Formal training in customer service.
  • Extensive diagnostic experience with Volkswagen and/or Audi, including VAS testers.
  • ASE Master / Volkswagen or Audi certification.
  • Skills in metal and electrical fabrication and modification, including welding, machining, drilling, bending, and forming metals and plastics.
Work Flexibility:
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% for training or to support EEO testing requirements.
  • Occasional extended hours may be necessary to meet project deadlines.
  • Availability to communicate with colleagues across different time zones.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean DMV record is required.
