POSITION SUMMARY

The Academic Support Advisor will be exceptionally qualified to provide services to student participants within the partner educational institutions. Reporting to the Director of the program, the Advisor will collaborate closely with the outreach and advising team, as well as local schools, to ensure that the objectives of the grant are achieved in alignment with the strategic plan of Eastern New Mexico University.


DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Facilitate and support: Provide individualized academic and career guidance to student cohorts.
  • Maintain a strong mentoring relationship with participants and their families, tracking progress and identifying necessary interventions.
  • Deliver ongoing financial aid and literacy information and support.
  • Supervise tutoring services, including oversight of tutors and online tutoring platforms.
  • Organize career and college club meetings, as well as college planning and application activities.
  • Manage online mentoring platforms and related software.
  • Collaborate effectively with local educational institutions and program team members.
  • Meet all expectations and undertake additional duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate initiative and creativity in implementing program services.
  • Collect and input relevant data into the management system pertaining to program services.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in providing academic and career guidance to middle and high school students.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively towards grant objectives.
  • Experience working with disadvantaged student populations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.
  • Background similar to the participants served.
  • Familiarity with computer and marketing software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Advocate for and support local community outreach initiatives for the program cohort.

Working Conditions

Work is conducted during standard business hours, with occasional evenings and weekends required to meet deadlines. The role is not sedentary and may involve exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
