Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Care Coordinator to join our Orthopaedic Surgery Department at the University of California. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional administrative support to our surgeons and staff, ensuring seamless patient care and efficient department operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage front desk duties, including triaging calls, greeting patients, and checking them in.
  • Conduct patient interviews and accurately register encounters using Care Connect functions.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring timely and effective communication.
  • Obtain and verify patient financial and demographic information, as well as insurance benefits.
  • Transport radiological studies and other test results, maintaining confidentiality and attention to detail.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, supporting the department's mission and goals.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a medical office setting, preferably in orthopedic surgery.
  • Working knowledge of Medi-Cal, HMOs, PPOs, and other third-party payors, including authorizations and eligibility requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and basic PC applications.
  • Ability to operate Dictaphone equipment and transcribe medical reports.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Organizational and prioritization skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
