About the Role

The Addison Group is seeking a highly skilled Paralegal Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our legal support team, you will play a critical role in assisting attorneys with various tasks, including legal research, document preparation, and case management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Comprehensive Research: Utilize various sources, including online databases and legal libraries, to conduct thorough research and gather relevant information.
  • Analyze and Summarize Complex Information: Analyze and summarize case law, statutes, regulations, and legal articles to provide valuable insights to attorneys.
  • Draft and Review Critical Documents: Draft and review legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, and discovery requests, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage Case Files and Schedules: Organize and maintain physical and electronic case files, track deadlines, and manage schedules to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Communicate Effectively with Clients: Communicate with clients to gather information, provide updates, and schedule meetings to ensure seamless communication.
  • Prepare and Review Correspondence and Reports: Prepare and review correspondence and reports for clients to ensure accuracy and professionalism.
  • Assist with Administrative Tasks: Assist with administrative tasks, such as filing, scanning, and data entry, to ensure efficient operation of the office.
  • Handle Billing and Timekeeping: Handle billing and timekeeping tasks to ensure accurate and timely payment.
  • File Documents and Ensure Compliance: File documents with courts and other agencies, ensuring compliance with legal procedures and deadlines.
  • Assist with Trial Preparation: Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, including creating trial notebooks, organizing evidence, and coordinating witness preparation.
Requirements
  • 5+ Years of Experience: 5+ years of experience as a paralegal or in a legal support role is preferred, with familiarity with legal terminology, procedures, and document preparation.
  • Litigation Experience: Litigation experience is required, with a strong understanding of legal procedures and document preparation.
  • Experience in Medical Malpractice, General Liability, Defense, or Personal Injury: Experience working in medical malpractice, general liability, defense, or personal injury is preferred.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree: An Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field is required, with a Bachelor's degree preferred. Certification from a recognized paralegal organization is a plus.
  • Strong Research and Analytical Skills: Strong research and analytical skills are essential, with the ability to analyze and summarize complex information.
  • Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and attorneys.
  • Proficiency in Legal Research Tools and Software: Proficiency in legal research tools and software, such as LexisNexis and Westlaw, is preferred.
  • Detail-Oriented with Strong Organizational Skills: A detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills is required, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to Work Independently and as Part of a Team: The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential, with a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
