Opportunity Overview
We are commencing a search for an Executive Vice President of Rail and Transit Engineering for WSP USA Inc. This role involves providing regional and multi-sector leadership to ensure that engineering expertise, technical outputs, infrastructure projects, and programs in transit and rail are delivered with exceptional quality, adhering to industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
Your Contributions
Deliver proactive and strategic leadership in the design, execution, and management of engineering disciplines involved in projects and programs within the organization.
Oversee the most intricate and large-scale transit and rail engineering initiatives, ensuring all team members understand their responsibilities and timelines. Manage project budgets, monitor both internal and external developments, track hours and expenses, ensure satisfactory performance and profitability, and supervise subcontractors and employees.
Lead efforts in business development and the successful execution of current and prospective infrastructure projects within a designated geography, particularly focusing on large-scale projects.
Direct the technical components of contract negotiations, presentations, and meetings.
Steer the long-term strategy, growth, and pipeline development of Transit and Rail Engineering initiatives for WSP in your assigned area, emphasizing infrastructure opportunities across all disciplines, including planning, design, strategic consulting, and program/construction management.
Accountable for the financial performance of individual projects and the successful completion of initiatives within the specified area.
Ensure compliance and accountability at all levels with applicable Federal, State, and Local engineering, design, and construction regulations.
Guide the internal vision and mission for the engineering discipline, ensuring alignment with business operations strategy, and continuously improving certifications, accreditations, and client satisfaction ratings.
Facilitate engineering discipline meetings and educational opportunities, providing updates and recommendations to staff to foster innovation, development, and quality project delivery.
Act as the engineering discipline's representative to various external entities, including Federal, State, and Local Agencies, Clients, Subcontractors, and industry-related groups.
Provide senior leadership for proposals, project scopes, pricing, budgets, and performance metrics for the engineering discipline.
Analyze and summarize data, including reports and documents for complex projects, leading to sound engineering and regulatory conclusions.
Offer discipline leadership to multi-disciplinary project teams and contribute high-level strategic advice to clients.
Provide performance guidance and proactive leadership to assigned managers and staff.
Develop high-level business relationships and a client base for delivering advanced transit and rail engineering services, identifying additional business development opportunities, and cross-selling other WSP capabilities.
Stay updated on the latest transit and rail engineering techniques and practices.
Collaborate with professionals from various disciplines to deliver innovative solutions for clients.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company resources and conduct, adhering to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a closely related field.
15+ years of relevant experience in Computer Based Train Control (CBTC) engineering, prior transit and rail experience, and infrastructure design.
Extensive proficiency in transit and rail engineering principles, practices, processes, and design/build standards.
Advanced knowledge of FRA, FTA, CPUC, AREMA, and other rail regulatory standards, compliance practices, and their business implications.
Demonstrated ability to establish, implement, and manage multiple large-scale discipline-related programs and projects.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to manage staff and interact effectively with all organizational levels.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize responsibilities in a high-pressure environment.
Ability to elicit cooperation from a diverse range of sources, including senior management and clients.
Strong adaptability to change and flexibility in meeting business needs.
Advanced knowledge of office automation and discipline-specific design software.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, and harassment policies.
Occasional travel may be required based on project-specific needs.
Preferred:
Engineer license preferred.
Master's Degree in Engineering.

Compensation:
Expected Salary: $250,000 - $300,000, based on education, experience, and geographic location.
