About the Role

At Developmental Disabilities Institute, we are seeking a highly skilled Speech Pathologist to join our team of professionals dedicated to providing innovative services to individuals with Autism, developmental disabilities, and other special needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, assess, and screen clients using standardized testing and clinical observational skills to identify communication needs and develop effective treatment plans.
  • Provide speech and language therapy services according to OPWDD guidelines, ensuring that clients receive high-quality care and support.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of client progress, services provided, and outcomes achieved, in accordance with program and supervisory requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including professionals, staff, and families, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices through ongoing education, training, and professional development.
  • Develop and implement communication programs in day and residential settings, promoting effective communication and social interaction.
  • Provide in-service training to staff on communication programs and strategies, enhancing their skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Speech/Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • NYSED licensure in Speech/Language Pathology.
  • ASHA certification and/or TSHH certification preferred.
  • Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities, with a strong understanding of Autism and related disorders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
