Job Description

Puget Sound Energy is seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team as a Natural Gas Resources Manager. As a key member of our Energy Supply team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to manage our natural gas resources, ensuring a safe and reliable supply of energy to our customers.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in natural gas trading, operations, and regulatory affairs. They will be responsible for managing our Canadian and US pipeline rate and tariff regulatory strategies, leading company efforts in managing, negotiating, and settling rate and tariff proceedings, and providing commercial and regulatory support for the Jackson Prairie project.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leadership and communication skills, with experience in evaluating fundamental market trends, assessing forward market prices, and developing hedging strategies. They will also have a strong understanding of Pacific Northwest gas and power energy infrastructure, regional gas pipeline infrastructure, and gas storage inventory management.

In this role, you will work closely with our planning staff to evaluate long-term resource strategies, develop methods and assumptions for financial analysis of energy resource strategy alternatives, and negotiate business transactions required to successfully implement a resource acquisition or development strategy.

Puget Sound Energy offers a competitive compensation and rewards package, including a salary range of $153,900.00-$256,200.00, and eligibility for annual goals-based incentive bonuses. Key Responsibilities
  • Manage PSE's Canadian, FERC, and state rate and tariff regulatory strategies with respect to pipeline, storage, and distribution company service providers.
  • Provide commercial and regulatory support for the Jackson Prairie project, including FERC reporting, contract negotiations, and legal counsel coordination and management.
  • Lead due diligence reviews of natural gas asset purchases, including financial feasibility analyses, and engineering, operations, environmental, and legal reviews.
  • Prepare and direct strategic and economic evaluations of current and proposed long-term and intermediate-term natural gas resource acquisitions.
  • Represent PSE's commercial interests in arrangements where PSE enters into joint development agreements with outside parties for new natural gas resources.
  • Develop methods and assumptions for financial analysis of energy resource strategy alternatives.
  • Negotiate business transactions required to successfully implement a resource acquisition or development strategy.
  • Work closely with planning staff to evaluate long-term resource strategies.
  • Direct and support technical resource modeling and forecasting studies.
  • Participate in and provide financial analysis and support for due diligence and prudence reviews, contract negotiations, and general and resource regulatory proceedings.
Requirements
  • BA/BS or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and communication skills.
  • 4 years in energy trading or operations.
  • 2 years natural gas or power trading experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Pacific Northwest gas and power energy infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of regional gas pipeline infrastructure, regional basis trading, gas storage inventory management, and pipeline imbalance management.
  • Demonstrated experience in evaluating fundamental market trends, assessing forward market prices, and developing hedging strategies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in FERC and Canadian rate design and regulatory proceedings.
  • Proficient with presentation software applications and excellent presentation skills.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in Pacific Northwest natural gas pipeline and storage resources, and the financial, economic, regulatory, and operational characteristics of such resources.
