Role Overview:

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Building Services, the Facilities Operations Supervisor is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the Courtyard Apartments complex, addressing all maintenance, repair, and custodial requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts routine maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs and ballasts, repairing irrigation systems, clearing blockages in sinks, tubs, and toilets, repainting living spaces, fixing appliances, and executing minor electrical and plumbing repairs.
  • Utilizes a computerized maintenance management system to log work orders.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on mechanical systems, including filter changes, coil cleaning, and sprinkler maintenance.
  • Handles general cleaning duties—maintaining common areas, public restrooms, and light fixtures.
  • Ensures cleanliness and upkeep of flooring.
  • Maintains daily communication with the Assistant Director of Building Services regarding maintenance and repair activities.
Qualifications Required:

A high school diploma, four years of relevant experience, and a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of two years of college or trade school in a related discipline; experience with commercial building systems, including electrical, lighting, plumbing, and custodial practices; supervisory experience is advantageous. Proficiency in computer skills is beneficial.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Proficient knowledge and capability in building maintenance and repairs. Ability to respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, including evenings and weekends; strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public; capacity to lift up to 75 pounds; and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong interpersonal skills are essential.
