Job Title: Per Diem Dietitian

Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a highly skilled Per Diem Dietitian to join our team. As a Per Diem Dietitian, you will be responsible for providing quality nutrition care and education to patients and family members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate the nutritional status of patients by reviewing pertinent information obtained from the electronic medical record and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Apply knowledge of nutrition screening and assessment to specific patient populations to determine their nutritional needs.
  • Conduct nutrition-focused physical exams and maintain working knowledge of malnutrition diagnostic criteria and treatment.
  • Document pertinent findings in the medical record as per policy.
  • Provide quality nutrition counseling to patients and family members as indicated.
  • Evaluate nutrition care plans for effectiveness and recommend changes as needed.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with members of the healthcare team.
  • Assist with discharge planning as needed.
  • Precept dietetic interns and instruct them on the competencies required to complete their assigned rotation.
  • Participate in projects within the department, including providing education via nutrition-related in services, interdepartmental nutrition programs, lectures, and community-focused programs.
Requirements:
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required, NYS CDN preferred.
  • 1-2 years' experience preferred.
  • Data Entry and computer proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel Microsoft Outlook.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
