Position Overview

Job Type: Part-Time, Monday – Friday

Work Hours: Morning shift from 7:00 am to 8:00 or 9:00 am and afternoon shift from 2:00 pm to 5:45 pm (timing may vary based on program needs).

Location: Various locations within the community.

The Family YMCA of the Glens Falls Area is in search of a dedicated After School Care Educator to enhance our team.

As an After School Care Educator, you will play a vital role in the YMCA BASE (Before and After School Enrichment) Program, providing a safe and engaging environment where children can explore their interests and develop their skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster positive interactions with members and represent the YMCA's values effectively.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress and other YMCA programs.
  • Support the academic objectives of participating children in accordance with regulatory requirements and YMCA standards.
  • Encourage a nurturing atmosphere that promotes enjoyment, safety, and the YMCA's core values: Respect, Responsibility, Caring, and Honesty.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the program site and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper upkeep.
  • Engage in and lead various program activities, including organized games, arts and crafts, STEM projects, and other enrichment opportunities.
  • Participate in monthly staff development meetings and any required training sessions.

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to fostering diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.
  • Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with children under the age of 13.
  • Willingness to complete required training and paperwork as mandated by regulatory bodies.
  • Current certification or willingness to obtain certification in Infant-Child CPR and Basic First Aid within 30 days of employment.
  • Ability to pass background checks and provide necessary health documentation.
  • Reliable transportation and flexibility to assist at various program sites as needed.
  • A passion for working with children and making a positive impact in their lives.
