We are seeking a skilled Heavy Motor Equipment Operator/Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at the City of Somerville. As a key member of our Building Division, you will be responsible for operating heavy motor equipment in a safe and efficient manner, performing routine maintenance tasks, and assisting with various construction and maintenance projects.
Key Responsibilities- Operate heavy motor equipment, such as trucks, plows, and sanders, in a safe and proper manner.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including greasing, oiling, and cleaning equipment.
- Assist with construction and maintenance projects, including digging holes, trenches, and other excavations.
- Load and unload trucks, and move materials and equipment as needed.
- Perform unskilled labor duties, such as shoveling materials and leveling areas.
- Assist other personnel with tasks and projects as needed.
- Ability to receive and interpret written and oral instructions.
- Ability to use tools of trade in a workmanlike manner.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in a variety of weather conditions.
- Valid Massachusetts Class B driver's license with a valid commercial driver's license (CDL).
