About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bar Manager to join our team at Kimpton UVA Darden. As a key member of our hospitality team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, managing the day-to-day operations of our bar/lounge outlets, and developing relationships with guests to drive repeat business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Provide guests with quality customer service by demonstrating excellent food and beverage knowledge, serving guests during their visit, and assisting in the preparation of beverage service.
  • Bar Operations: Manage the day-to-day activities of one or more bar/lounge outlets, including coordinating seasonally appropriate cocktail changes, maintaining complete knowledge of liquor brands, beers, wine, and non-alcoholic selections, and ensuring accurate cash handling and inventory management.
  • Staff Management: Provide training, support, and mentoring to staff, establish a safe and positive work environment, and address complaints from staff in a fair and timely manner.
  • Scheduling: Schedule employees appropriately based on budgeted labor costs and business levels, and ensure the schedule is displayed/published promptly every week.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED
  • Experience: 2+ years of hotel/restaurant or related management experience
  • Certifications: Food Handler and Alcohol Awareness Certification(s) if applicable
  • Skills: Advanced knowledge of wine, spirits, and mixology, experience using software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, POS systems, and ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
