Aircraft Mechanic Job Description

This position is for an Aircraft Mechanic, responsible for maintaining and repairing aircraft systems, assemblies, and surfaces. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring the safety and efficiency of aircraft operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventive maintenance, repair, and ground testing of aircraft systems, assemblies, and surfaces.
  • Install, align, and make adjustments to major components and assemblies, such as engines, propellers, transmissions, and hydraulic systems.
  • Conduct flight training programs for drill status crew chiefs, including maintenance instruction and ground handling of aircraft.
  • Accomplish or monitor the performance of periodic inspections, daily inspections, refueling/defueling of aircraft, and all servicing operations.
  • Perform duties as a Flight Mechanic/Flight Engineer, carrying out pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight duties.
Requirements:
  • At least 18 months of specialized experience installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting, and functionally testing major and minor mechanical and pneumatic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification.
  • Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow.
  • Ability to instruct lower-graded mechanics, military, and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash-damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls.
Working Conditions:

Work is performed both inside and outside, with frequent exposure to drafts, changing temperatures, and noise. The incumbent may be required to work from ladders or work platforms at varying heights and may be exposed to bad weather, mud, snow, and wet or icy areas.
