Automotive Technical Training Facilitator

Position Overview

Role Summary:

The Automotive Technical Training Facilitator is tasked with imparting specialized training to OEM Dealer technicians. This role involves providing guidance, technical knowledge, and motivation, while offering structured opportunities for technicians or students to enhance their skills. Utilizing advanced audiovisual tools and practical workshop activities, the facilitator will elevate the automotive expertise of the technicians.

Success in this position requires a passion for building relationships and fostering connections in a dynamic, collaborative, and hands-on setting. Instruction may occur in various environments, including customer locations or non-UTI facilities. Exceptional presentation abilities are crucial, along with the capacity to meet standards and objectives within specified timelines, which may necessitate independent decision-making. Therefore, effective planning and problem-solving capabilities are essential for achieving success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspire and Educate: Cultivate an engaging and inclusive learning atmosphere where students and technicians can thrive, nurturing their enthusiasm for the OEM while sharing your expert insights.
  • Hands-On Training:
    • Adhere to the instructor's guide's learning objectives and course outlines.
    • Leverage extensive OEM technical knowledge to instruct dealer technicians and refine their automotive skills.
    • Deliver instruction in both classroom and workshop settings to fulfill curriculum requirements.
    • Ensure that the delivery of instruction is dynamic while complying with OEM course delivery standards.
  • Curriculum Development: Assist in creating classroom-ready curriculum derived from original equipment manufacturer products and service manuals, including lesson plans, visual aids, assessments, practical applications, and demonstrations.
  • Mentorship: Guide and coach technicians during workshop activities.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and OSHA standards, promptly reporting any unsatisfactory conditions and taking immediate corrective actions as necessary.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Collaborate with the OEM training department to guarantee the availability of training materials, required tools, and equipment, while documenting training outcomes as directed by OEM management.
    • Complete assigned administrative responsibilities in a timely manner.
    • Follow all guidelines outlined in the OEM Corporate Travel Policy.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience:
    • Prior experience as an automotive technician is mandatory.
    • Technical expertise with OEM vehicles is essential.
    • Previous instructional experience with OEM preferred.
    • A minimum of five years of experience as an instructor in a technical field is preferred.
    • Prior experience as an OEM technician is advantageous.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with technicians, students, colleagues, and OEM dealer personnel.
  • Organizational Skills: Proficient in planning, prioritization, time management, and adapting to a dynamic environment.
  • Computer Skills: Familiarity with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to manage OEM software applications and curriculum on UTI and OEM systems.
  • Technical Skills: Capable of setting up, delivering, and troubleshooting both invasive and non-invasive vehicle faults.
  • Professionalism: Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities, exercising sound judgment.
