About the Position:

This is a unique opportunity to join the Defense Health Agency as a Medical Instrument Technologist. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing daily quality control checks of ultrasound machines, recognizing and reporting equipment malfunctions, and performing complex diagnostic ultrasound examinations and/or procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Performs daily quality control checks of ultrasound machines.
  • Recognizes and reports equipment malfunctions, including problems with the department's digital imaging archival and reporting system.
  • Performs complex diagnostic ultrasound examinations and/or procedures.
  • Performs a wide variety of complex ultrasound examinations of human patients to aid in the diagnosis of disease or injury.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

To be eligible for this position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • One year of specialized experience which includes performing a variety of ultrasound procedures and/or examinations on patients; Providing ultrasound guidance for diagnostic procedures; and Managing daily quality control checks of ultrasound equipment.
  • Certified in General Diagnostic Medical Sonography Technology by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) (optional).
  • One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Sonography or Radiology (optional).
